Frequently asked questions

Straight answers for California driving school owners considering a branded traffic school.

Do I need my own DMV license/provider number?

Yes. Your school registers with the DMV and operates under your own DMV license/provider number. We help prepare the paperwork and configure the platform, but your school owns the DMV registration and license relationship.

How do I start a traffic school in California?

You register your school with the DMV, operate under your own DMV license/provider number, and run the student experience on a platform like ours. We help prepare the DMV school-name paperwork, branding, payment setup, and launch steps.

What does it cost?

A flat $10 per student who pays, billed monthly. The DMV charges a one-time $25 fee to register your school name. There is no monthly platform fee and no setup fee. You set your own student price and keep it — see pricing.

Who gets the student's payment?

You do. Students pay on your site into your own Stripe account. You are the merchant of record; our platform fee is billed to you separately at month end.

How do DMV completions get filed?

Automatically. When a student passes the final exam and pays, the platform e-files the completion with the DMV's traffic violator school system using your school's setup and shows you the filing status on your dashboard.

Is the course DMV-approved?

Yes. Students take a DMV-approved online course, available in English and Spanish, with the state-required final exam and retake rules built in.

How long does it take to launch?

Typically weeks. The main variable is DMV registration and approval of your school name; branding, payment setup, and going live are days of work once the DMV pieces clear.

What name can I use for my school?

School names require DMV approval and can be at most 35 characters. We help prepare the paperwork and flag names unlikely to clear before you spend the $25 DMV fee.

I already have a Traffic Violator School license — can I still use the platform?

Yes. The platform also supports schools that hold their own TVS license and file under their own provider number. Email us and we'll walk through your setup.
